Liminal Goodbye was performed at The Linbury Theatre, London as part of The Royal Opera House International Draft Works 2024. In collaboration with Harry Yeff (reeps100) creative direction, the work has been inspired by Harry Yeff’s unique method of musical composition which combines AI and ‘human’ methods. The work explores the process of pulling someone out of all-consuming grief and loss. We see one person experience elements of grief, loneliness and denial, while two others represent pillars of support. These elements come in waves, like memories of loss. They bond together to give strength to the one grieving, offering guidance and acceptance, helping them to stand on their own with powerful grit. This is reflected in the piece through the exploration of both physical and digital loss and the ways technology has shaped how we grieve.
Danced by Scottish Ballet dancers, Marge Hendrick, Harvey Evans and Benjamin Thomas; also with lighting by Prema Mehta.
